Job description

Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes
  • Maintain close working relationships with Field, Support, and product engineering teams
  • Participate in upstream open source communities
  • Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion
  • Review code produced by other engineers
  • Prioritize work and manage time effectively against technical priorities
  • Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation

Requirements

  • Exceptional academic track record
  • Background in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field
  • Experience with Linux and open source software
  • Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10% for team meetings and conferences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in Ubuntu Linux kernel or userspace
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, or QEMU/KVM
  • Experience with LXC/LXD, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
  • Familiarity with Debian packaging and distributed systems
