Solution Architect SME

Responsibilities

• Review client's current mainframe and mid-range system architecture, including interfaces, data models, and batch processing frameworks
• Propose future state business processes and architectural solutions using industry best practices
• Lead the implementation of modern technical solutions and support design activities
• Collaborate with financial agents to develop efficient business workstreams and provide technical drawings
• Communicate requirements to oversight and development teams for agile story drafting
• Ensure technical workflow solutions align with federal financial, security, and compliance requirements
• Develop strategies for migrating legacy mainframe applications to modern server and cloud environments
• Provide architecture-level recommendations for integration, performance optimization, and data migrations
• Lead development teams in applying modern design patterns, cloud-native principles, and DevSecOps practices
• Support testing, validation, and deployment of reengineered applications

Requirements

• 10 years of experience in enterprise application architecture, systems design, and implementation
• Proficiency in Mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM
• Experience with modern web/server technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, Postgres, Tomcat/WebLogic, and Linux
• Hands-on experience with modernization or migration of legacy mainframe applications to distributed or cloud-based systems
• Strong understanding of system integration, data migration, and application interoperability
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting federal financial systems
• Expertise with financial application architectures (e.g., general ledger, disbursement, or reconciliation systems)
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevSecOps pipelines
• Familiarity with federal IT frameworks, including FISMA, NIST 800-53, and FedRAMP
