Sr. Underwriting Ops Associate

Arlo is rebuilding health insurance for small businesses from first principles. By using AI to identify fraud, steer members toward high-quality care, and automate operational overhead, Arlo ensures more premium dollars go toward actual care rather than administrative waste.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve RFPs within established underwriting authority and escalate complex submissions
• Validate inputs from broker submissions and external documentation
• Monitor underwriting funnel performance, including quote volume and conversion ratios
• Conduct analysis of risk composition to identify adverse selection or appetite drift
• Triage in-flight quote inquiries and coordinate with sales operations
• Partner with health plan operations to support downstream execution of bound business
• Develop and maintain underwriting reporting and dashboards

Requirements

• Substantive experience in group health, stop-loss, or employee benefits underwriting
• Experience in underwriting, analytics, or operations at a carrier, MGU, broker, or insurtech
• Strong proficiency in Excel with ability to build formula-driven models
• High attention to detail regarding numerical and written data
• Excellent internal communication skills
• Ability to operate in an evolving environment with active system building

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to query and analyze complex datasets using SQL or Python
• Experience operating alongside machine learning or AI-assisted automation systems
• Familiarity with the self-insured market segment and distribution models
