Staff Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production data pipelines within Databricks to ensure reliability at multi-terabyte scale
• Exercise architectural judgment on data modeling, pipeline design, and platform usage
• Engage with product and engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions
• Drive platform quality through code reviews, testing practices, and engineering standards
• Serve as an onshore escalation point and institutional knowledge backup for platform decisions
• Lead pipeline implementation for migrating legacy datasets to a unified Databricks lakehouse

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark
• Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Workflows, Databricks SQL)
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines at scale
• Strong data modeling skills for structured and semi-structured data
• Experience with AWS (S3, IAM, VPC)
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform preferred)
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers
• Must be US-based for timezone overlap and stakeholder engagement

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with financial data, accounting systems (NetSuite), or enterprise ERP platforms
• Background building pipelines for AI/ML workloads (RAG, LLMs)
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements
• Experience working with nearshore engineering teams
