Staff Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and own data platform architecture including ingestion patterns, warehouse design, and orchestration
• Decide between streaming and batch ingestion based on business value and cost
• Manage data integrations from requirements through to QA and support
• Ensure pipeline reliability through monitoring, alerting, and incident response
• Lead Snowflake governance, including RBAC, performance tuning, and cost controls
• Implement data contracts and observability to ensure data quality and freshness
• Use AI and automation to accelerate debugging and operational workflows

Requirements

• Deep experience designing and operating production data platforms
• Hands-on expertise in writing production code and managing CI/CD workflows
• Strong understanding of ingestion fundamentals like APIs, CDC, and idempotency
• Fluency in Snowflake (warehouse design, RBAC, and performance tuning)
• Ability to align technical decisions with business outcomes
• Experience using LLMs and agents to accelerate engineering work

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in lending, fintech, or financial services
• Proficiency with CDC, Debezium, dbt Cloud, Dagster, or Airflow
• Experience with Azure data services (Event Hubs, Blob Storage, Azure SQL)
• Knowledge of data observability tools like Monte Carlo or Elementary
• Familiarity with open table formats like Apache Iceberg
