Staff Data Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reliable and scalable data pipelines, ensuring quality, performance, and observability
• Act in the ingestion, transformation, and availability of data for analytical consumption and internal applications
• Build and evolve reusable analytical datasets with semantic consistency
• Operate and evolve the data stack, including orchestration, transformation, and storage
• Participate in data incident resolution, including diagnosis, correction, and prevention
• Apply engineering best practices such as testing, versioning, and code review
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineering, SRE, and product teams
• Use AI tools to increase productivity and code quality
• Contribute to the evolution of the data platform as a product

Requirements

• Experience with SQL and/or Python applied to data
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Dataform)
• Experience with cloud environments (preferably GCP, BigQuery, or Databricks)
• Ability to debug pipelines and analyze data problems structurally
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale data platforms (data lake, warehouse, or lakehouse)
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
• Experience with data observability and quality (tests, alerts, data diff)
• Experience with cost and performance optimization (Data FinOps)
• Experience with multi-team/multi-domain environments and data as a product
• Practical use of AI in development
