Staff Engineer

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for the Integrations domain, overseeing the architectural evolution of 130+ provider integrations and 95+ webhooks.
• Define the patterns, frameworks, and reusable abstractions that ensure the platform scales to 5x its current capacity.
• Drive platform-level improvements including dynamic mapping, pipeline orchestration, and observability primitives.
• Lead cross-team design reviews and align multiple squads on shared technical roadmaps and RFC processes.
• Mentor and grow Senior engineers across the domain, fostering a community of practice around integrations engineering.
• Shape how the domain adopts AI-assisted workflows, standardizing prompts, guardrails, and review practices.
• Ensure technical excellence by defining quality bars for testing, incident prevention, and production readiness.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience building high-throughput systems, with 3+ years at a Senior, Staff, or Lead level.
• Proven track record of leading architectural decisions adopted by multiple teams.
• Direct experience in payments, fintech, or PCI-regulated systems (PSPs, acquirers, or fraud/3DS providers).
• Deep expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, and high-performance APIs.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, or Kotlin.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Working knowledge of secure software development, OWASP, and PCI-DSS principles.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) as a core part of your workflow.
• Full professional proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Staff or Principal Engineer experience at a payments orchestrator, PSP, or fintech infrastructure company.
• Experience scaling integrations across multiple global regions (LATAM, APAC, EMEA, NA).
• Hands-on experience with cloud and DevOps environments such as AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Contributions to open-source projects in the fintech space or public technical writing.
