Staff Forward-Deployed Engineer

Responsibilities

• Embed with customers to understand technical needs and lead technical conversations
• Own end-to-end software work including data integration, energy-accounting, and data pipelines
• Design reference architectures to create scalable templates for future customer implementations
• Act as the technical voice for new business opportunities through landscape analysis
• Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical utility customers
• Maintain production ownership and participate in on-call rotations
• Conduct quarterly in-person implementation and training workshops

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering experience shipping production-ready systems
• Ability to operate independently and manage ambiguity without detailed specs
• Strong communication skills, specifically for non-technical audiences
• Broad technical interest across backend, DevOps, infrastructure, or data engineering
• Curiosity regarding the energy grid and utility industry

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or consulting
• Experience with TypeScript, React, Go, Kafka, GraphQL, AWS, or TimescaleDB
