Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end product design for Gusto's contractor experiences, owning discovery, strategy, and execution.
  • Translate user research and data into scalable, accessible UX and visual designs.
  • Define and evolve design patterns and contribute to the company design system.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Support to deliver solutions.
  • Prototype, iterate, and validate concepts across workflows for contractors and their clients.
  • Mentor designers, run design reviews, and promote inclusive design practices across the team.
  • Explore opportunities to integrate AI and automation to improve user workflows and operational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for B2B SaaS, HR tech, payroll or financial workflows.
  • Prior work on contractor/freelancer platforms or compliance-heavy domains.
  • Demonstrated mentorship and leadership at a staff or lead level.
  • Familiarity with data-informed design (analytics, A/B testing, metrics).
  • Interest or experience applying AI to product experiences.
