Staff Software Engineer, Notifications

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and long-term direction of Command|Alert, including delivery guarantees, routing logic, and escalation policies.
• Define the integration model for outbound channels such as PagerDuty, Slack, email, SMS, and webhooks.
• Design and evolve the Temporal workflow layer to manage complex delivery logic, including grouping, silencing, and custom scheduling.
• Manage long-running channel state, tracking alert volume, processing status, and pending queues.
• Drive the subscriber configuration model to define how users receive alerts across various channels.
• Establish technical standards for integration development to ensure maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and drive alignment on shared contracts and platform capabilities across teams.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience designing and operating high-reliability notification or alerting systems at production scale.
• Strong integration engineering background with channel brokers like PagerDuty, Slack, and ticketing platforms.
• Hands-on production experience with Temporal or a comparable workflow orchestration platform.
• Experience reasoning across distributed system state, focusing on delivery guarantees and idempotency.
• Ability to make durable architectural decisions in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Proven track record of cross-team technical influence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AI triage workflows or routing alerts into LLM-based reasoning pipelines.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms and per-tenant configuration.
• Background in security operations or familiarity with SOAR platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka-based event pipelines.
