Staff Software Engineer

Spark is building healthcare tech for a system that desperately needs it. We are the fastest-growing Medicare platform in the country, combining AI, an industry-leading CRM, and client services to transform how 10,000+ brokers acquire, enroll, and support clients in their local communities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver impactful full-stack features that benefit Medicare brokers and beneficiaries
• Partner with product and design leadership to shape scope and influence roadmap decisions
• Own system-level and architectural decisions within your product domain
• Identify and resolve systemic technical debt to balance velocity with platform health
• Establish and evolve engineering standards, including code review and system design principles
• Mentor engineers and lead by example
• Utilize modern AI-powered developer tools to increase efficiency

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience with modern JS (Vue, React) or Python/backend web development
• Meaningful hands-on experience in both frontend and backend development
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• Strong product intuition and ability to connect technical investments to business outcomes
• Fluency with AI-powered development tools
• Exceptional communication skills for translating complex technical concepts
• Proven track record of leading architectural decisions and shipping customer-facing products

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Expertise in Django or similar frameworks
• Experience defining technical strategy at the domain or team level
• History of raising engineering standards through mentorship
