Job description

Responsibilities

  • Answer calls in a professional manner following the Interpreter's code of conduct
  • Provide accurate communication between Swahili and English speakers
  • Take detailed notes during calls to ensure accuracy
  • Utilize industry-specific vocabulary, particularly within the healthcare and medical sectors
  • Participate in internal professional training and pursue new certifications
  • Communicate and report regularly to your team leader

Requirements

  • Native or bilingual proficiency in both Swahili and English
  • 1+ years of professional interpreting experience
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • High level of communication, listening, and memory retention skills
  • High emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance
  • Reliable Ethernet connection (Wi-Fi is not permitted)
  • Noise-canceling wired USB headset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Awareness of legal terminology
  • International healthcare industry certifications (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA)
  • High school diploma in your native language
