Systems Engineer Principal

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and support daily HPC system operations and the reliability of the scheduling and system software stack for NOAA's National Weather Service
• Collaborate with engineers, administrators, and developers to troubleshoot issues and enhance system performance
• Drive improvements in system efficiency, scheduler reliability, and operational resiliency
• Utilize Linux administration, HPC schedulers (PBS Pro/Slurm), and parallel computing technologies to maintain supercomputing systems

Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
• 8+ years of related experience
• Proficiency in Linux system administration (Rocky/SLES preferred)
• Experience with HPC batch schedulers such as PBS Pro or Slurm
• Scripting abilities in Bash, Python, or Perl
• Understanding of HPC architectures, distributed computing, and MPI-based workloads
• US citizenship
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
