Taishanese Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Taishanese and English for healthcare and legal calls
• Render all messages completely without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Apply industry-specific terminology and standards of practice during sessions
• Maintain professional conduct and dress code requirements for video calls
• Take detailed notes and demonstrate strong memory retention during fast-paced conversations
• Complete internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leadership and contribute to quality assurance processes

Requirements

• Native fluency in Taishanese and fluent English proficiency
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI experience preferred but not required
• Knowledge of medical or legal terminology preferred
• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
• Excellent listening, communication, and note-taking skills

Preferred Qualifications

• International certifications in healthcare interpretation (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.)
• Prior experience with healthcare or legal interpreting
• Familiarity with remote interpreting platforms and workflows
