Taishanese Interpreter - OPI/VRI

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate OPI/VRI interpretation between Taishanese and English in healthcare and medical settings
• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient clients and English-speaking providers
• Render all messages completely and accurately without adding, omitting, or substituting content
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to interpreter standards of practice
• Take detailed notes during calls to ensure message fidelity
• Participate in internal professional training and pursue relevant certifications
• Report to team leadership and comply with dress code for video remote interpreting

Requirements

• Native fluency in Taishanese and fluent English
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of OPI/VRI interpretation experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Awareness of legal terminology preferred
• Healthcare industry certifications preferred (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA)
• High emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance
• Strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Dedicated wired internet: minimum 10 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload (Wi-Fi not permitted)
• Windows 10+ operating system, Intel Core i5+ or equivalent, 8GB RAM minimum
• USB wired noise-cancelling headset with built-in microphone (no Bluetooth/wireless)
• Computer operating in "High Performance" mode with power adapter plugged in
• No Chromebooks, Macs, tablets, or mobile devices permitted
