Tax Operations Specialist

Responsibilities

• Serve as the internal tax expert, staying current on federal, state, and local filing rules and agency nuances
• Own reactive tax support tickets including tax notices, blocked filings, and W-2/year-end issues
• Drive proactive tax setup reviews for high-risk customers during onboarding
• Build playbooks, enablement documentation, and training for Sales, Launch, and Support teams

Requirements

• 3+ years of payroll tax experience at a payroll provider, payroll SaaS, or PEO
• Hands-on knowledge of federal, state, and local filing requirements across multiple jurisdictions
• Direct experience managing agency notices end-to-end and communicating with customers
• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and tax reconciliations
• Working knowledge of payroll systems such as Check, Gusto, Rippling, ADP, or Paychex
• Deep fluency in POA/TPA processes, filing frequencies, and wage bases
