Job description

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities in open source packages
  • Track vulnerabilities in the Ubuntu ecosystem using internal tools
  • Collaborate with upstream developers and the Ubuntu community on security patches
  • Audit source code for vulnerabilities
  • Build features and tools to strengthen the security of Ubuntu and related products

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of common security vulnerability categories and fixes
  • Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices
  • Familiarity with open source development tools and methodologies
  • Skilled in one or more of C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
  • Excellent logic, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
  • Clear and effective communication with distributed teams and community members
  • Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and motivation
