Ukrainian Criminal Law and Practice Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advisory support in implementing the Team of Experts' programme in Ukraine
• Monitor legislative initiatives related to criminal law, justice, reparations, and trafficking in persons
• Provide legal analysis on implications for CRSV rule of law responses and alignment with international standards
• Liaise with national authorities including the Office of the Prosecutor General and National Police of Ukraine
• Support the preparation of expert deployments to Ukraine and facilitate capacity-building initiatives
• Monitor CRSV-related judicial proceedings and identify significant judicial decisions
• Produce regular updates on CRSV cases filed in the Ukrainian court system
• Assist in identifying and disseminating decisions of international and national jurisdictions related to accountability

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, or related field
• Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience (9 years with a Bachelor's degree)
• At least 3 years of experience working with the Ukrainian criminal justice system
• In-depth knowledge of Ukrainian criminal law and public prosecution
• Demonstrated ability to draft legal materials in English
• Fluency in English is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Ukrainian language
• Experience working in the UN or other complex organizations
• Experience in conflict or post-conflict settings
• Experience working on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) issues
• Ability to draft legal materials in Ukrainian
