Underwriting Manager

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day management of the underwriting team, driving productivity, accuracy, service quality, and guideline adherence
• Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Processing, and Closing teams
• Evaluate applicant information against underwriting criteria to flag high-risk cases and make investment recommendations
• Serve as the first point of contact for eligibility escalations
• Advise the team on investment decisions for edge cases and escalations
• Identify and mitigate underwriting risks, including monitoring QC error trends
• Coach and develop underwriters to drive high performance in pipeline management and quality
• Ensure team members adhere to investor guidelines and Hometap procedures
• Participate in recruiting, career development, and succession planning

Requirements

• 5+ years of underwriting experience in residential finance
• 2+ years of experience managing a production-based team
• Extraordinary attention to detail with strong proofreading skills
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
• Clear, effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Bachelor's degree, ideally in business, finance, or a related field
