Vice President, Legal

Responsibilities

• Lead legal strategy and execution for complex transactions including licensing, joint ventures, and strategic collaborations
• Serve as a thought partner to Business Development and executive leadership during deal structuring
• Collaborate with R&D teams to refine research plans and SOWs to ensure technical objectives align with contractual terms
• Draft and negotiate IP licenses, options, evaluations, MSAs, and revenue sharing agreements
• Manage external contract consultants and oversee outside counsel across transactions, corporate, and real estate
• Develop and maintain contract workflows, templates, and a comprehensive clause library

Requirements

• JD from an accredited institution
• Scientific background in biology, chemistry, or a related field
• Significant experience in life sciences transactions (licensing, joint ventures, strategic collaborations)
• Experience at a well-regarded law firm (top 10 or equivalent)
• Ongoing US work authorization without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

• In-house legal experience at a biotech, life sciences company, or life sciences-focused VC
• Experience with gene editing, AI-driven biology, or novel technology areas
• Exposure to industries such as diagnostics, agriculture, or manufacturing
• Experience supporting equity financings or IPO preparation
