Responsibilities

• Possess technical knowledge of computer-aided translation (CAT) software, specifically Total Eclipse or Case Catalyst.
• In collaboration with the Editor, provide accurate transcripts of the verbatim record of legal proceedings.
• Write transcripts in Total Eclipse and/or Case Catalyst, either in real-time or delayed, by referencing audio files.
• Ensure transcripts are correctly formatted, all names and terms are spelled accurately, sentences are properly punctuated, and errors are rectified.
• Assist with processing the final transcript at the end of the day, including providing ASCII files.
• Amend transcripts and prepare errata sheets as per client instructions.
• Maintain up-to-date glossaries for all court reporting jobs.

Requirements

• Prior experience as a court reporter
• Extensive English vocabulary and excellent grammar
• Minimum 200 WPM typing speed
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Professional, courteous, and confident communicator able to build rapport with judges, lawyers, and colleagues
• Ability to work under pressure
• Proactive attitude with willingness to learn
• Flexible team player
• Overtime work (e.g., evening hours) may be required to ensure timely transcript delivery
• Willingness to travel within the Middle East and surrounding areas when required
